Fall Trend Alert: Velvet

Hey guys, Robin here with a Friday evening edition of APM! This is going to be short and sweet because, frankly speaking – my life has been an absolute whirlwind basically the entire month of October and while I’m loving it, I’m looking forward to some down time in November (at least that’s what my schedule says right now…). We have our annual Halloween party / chili cook off this weekend and *cue the broken record* we’ll be sure to document the whole thing on our Instastory!

So about this kimono. I’m seriously crushing (pun intended) on velvet for fall. I’ve seen it in soooo many forms – from bomber jackets to blouses to joggers, there’s something out there to fill all of your wardrobe wants and needs. Kimonos are a favorite of mine (as you can see here, here and here) and I loooooove how this green velvet version is amping up the edge factor and making this look super stylish.

As soon as Minash posted this kimono on their Instagram page, I knew I had to have it – and I knew exactly how I wanted to style it. As you know, I love wearing rocker / band tee’s and this black Door’s tee was the perfect match for it. I’ve worn this tee before (here) with an open metallic jacket and I feel like it gives it the same edgy style there as well.

A few of my friends thought this might be a little Hugh Hefner esque, or resemble a house robe – and I DEFINITELY agree it could lend itself that way if you pair it with the wrong pieces. I tried this on with just a plain white v-neck and it looked absolutely boring. That’s it for today, sorry this isn’t an award winning post – but I really wanted to show you this look. Be on the lookout in all the boutiques and high street stores for velvet this fall; it’s going to be everywhere!
